Look what mummy can do...

Third post for the day!
I am doing crafty well!

I seem to often stumble across a mighty big problem in my house with 3 children and it is always on who's artwork is going to feature on the fridge for the week.  I tried adjusting the routine to daily but if one child didn't bring home a new project the debate would then be 'but Chloe's was on the fridge for 2 nights so I want mine on the fridge for 2!' It is a never ending constant debating circle and I believe a battle that I will never win :$

So ... While having a peak in DH's shed out the back I stumbled across a plank of wood.  I looked at it and thought I can do such better things with it then what ever use he is intending to do with it, and anyway, I think it is left over from when he added planks to the bed so its use for him is finished.
So, out I dragged it out while stealing his handsaw as well on the way out :$ (Sssshhh don't tell - but I really don't think he would have been happy if I got the electric saw out and started playing with that too as he never gets back what I 'borrow' :) lol

So I turned a plank of old wood into this ...
(Forgive the 1st picture - bad lighting)

This one is for my little Ms Emilie - She can't really 'debate' with the other 2 so I thought it fair she gets hers first.  She is a mini me so shabby chic was the way to go! Love that girl :)) I covered the wood with paper and ink distressed all the edges, and around the side I added a gorgeous lace and ribbon trim (as it is going on the wall you can see the sides).  As the piece is larger than 12 inch and I had a paper join, I added the ribbon strip over the join - You can not notice the slight variation in the paper pattern *yeah*.

The flower is hand made from scraps that I have placed on-top of some soft baby pink fishnet and behind that again I have added some feathers.  I had to add the feathers as Emilie just loves playing with these while we craft together.  The pearls steams I threaded onto wire and fixed with my hot glue gun.  I added 3 pegs as some of the things she brings home can be heavy with stuff like macaroni and also it can hang an A4 sheet in landscape or portfolio view.

The chain is another recycle reuse item and it is from one of my broken hanging pots that the sun deteriorated and no longer hangs.  I thought of adding eyelet hooks to hold the chain but being shabby and rustic I though the 'round horseshoe nail thingys - another thing 'borrowed' from hubby would look really cool and I think they do.

The ribbon covering the join made a great separation point and I decided as the piece is designed to focus on the kids artwork that I would keep that side to a minimal so not to take the distraction away from their lovely artwork.  The wording I typed up in work and printed onto some DP and matted on some ink distressed brown cardstock.

Righty oh ... I have another 2 of these to make now ...
Me and my bright ideas :P
And silly me has had the thought that Nanny would love one of these to showcase the kids works too! Oh my golly - time to STOP thinking!
Thanks for stopping by!

Masking! & a Blog Hop

And to celebrate the occasion I am also throwing in
a bag of goodies to one lucky hopper!

I have the Hop Route below!!!
Here is my creation to celebrate the occasion and to be honest this is a technique I really do not use very much and I should do more often as I had such fun getting all inky and creative making this weeks card!

I am still working on making a collection of rubber and clear stamps so I do not have many but today I used 2 that I picked up from a garage sale for only $1! - I love a bargain!  The gorgeous pink flower is from Mulberry Street and I have made the 2 backing rosettes that it is sitting on from scrap DP. The top rosette I have added glitter flecks to, then added pink feathers behind from an old feather duster, and then behind that I have mounted it onto a larger rosette.   I have also used 3 different ribbons and some lace to make my own decorative ribbon trim.  And while I have mounted the sentiment onto the card with foam tape I have also added a silver chain dangle from the rosette to the sentiment for extra character.

I also wanted to give this card lots of textures for under the fingers, so for the spots on the DP on the front of the card I have used my White Pearl Dimensional Paint on the spots witch have given a raised effect and look like real pearls at a fraction of the price!

Travel dreams!

Terrific Tuesdays to you all!

The mail man was ever so kind to me yesterday and my prize from the gorgeous girls at Sugar Creek Hollow arrived.  This morning I was meant to be focusing on my altered project but I just could not resist playing with these new little beauties and the to die for seam binding! Again, Thank you greatly Sugar Creek Hollow

I also had on my messy desk this weeks sketch from Stampin' Sisters in Christ with a few notes of challenges on at the moment like masculine, yellow ribbon, vacation, shabby chic, fussy cutting.  You can see a full up to date list at Feline Playful just click right HERE!

I knew the Travel World stamps from TPC Studio I had received would make a great mans card and as hubby has always promised me one day we will get to Paris and London (for that Ohh La La Trip I hope it is children free! :P) I thought they would be a great excuse to make a card to let him know he is being missed and thought of.

While just stamping random images to look at their prettiness, I wished I had a postcard die.  It clicked to me that while I don't have one, I DO HAVE fancy scissors and one with a little scallop that would give a faux postcard look!  From there this card just came together perfectly.  I kept the fancy scallop cutting going on all the layers to really give the 'stamp/ postcard' feature highlight throughout the card.

I hope hubby likes it as much as me and maybe just maybe he will get the hint - I wanna go to PARIS!

See the light!

Well as you may know I am playing along with the 365 Cards challenge this week.
And the word for Saturday was ...
LIGHT

First thought that came to mind is 'I see the light'
So for me that is my faith.

Being that church in the morning was on my agenda when I went to sleep last night, I thought it fitting to use a scripture type sentiment today.  This is another of my favs from Gingers House and the praying hands I am unsure of their origin :$ it is in my random clip-art.

I kept the embellishments limited as I did not want to take from the power of the sentiment and the flower is handmade with a gorgeous diamond brad in the middle.  The leaves are from my new spellbinders that I have been dying to use and I added some twine threaded through the eyelets in the top right corner.

And a huge woo hoo! as I have completed all 7 days from Sunday to Saturday!
Didn't think I was going to manage it but I love word appreciation so had to do it!

Thank you for dropping in on me.
